The owner has been advised to check the engine breather before fitting the turbo, as we suspect a build up of carbon on the inside is causing the engine to act like it is worn and thus causing turbo failure.<\/p>\n

This week we had a call back from a customer saying his repaired turbo was leaking as soon as it was fitted back to the vehicle. We organised to pick it up and inspect it and found that he had not removed the dust cap from the oil drain port before fitting his oil drain pipe. This meant that oil going through the turbo could not make its way to the sump and so was forced past the turbine seal where it was burning off in the exhaust. The owner was a little ‘sheepish’ on the phone once it was explained to him but all is good now, and we are always happy to help.<\/p>\n
Last month saw a variety of turbos coming through for repair including five BMW 320 turbos, three Ford Focus 1.6tdci, two Freelanders and four Ford Transits to name just a few. We also sold three electronic actuators which are fitted to more and more turbochargers these days. If your electronic actuator has failed and it\u2019s a garret type then look for the id number printed on the aluminium casing example g-229. g-149 this has to be replaced with an actuator that is the same number so that your engine management can read it and work correctly.<\/p>\n
